Sweet Rocket - Pale Lavender
Sweet Rocket - Pale Lavender
Every year I am surprised by Sweet Rocket (Hesperis matronalis) - not only is it extremely easy to grow, but it is also beautiful and blooms when we don’t have a lot of other flowers blooming on the farm. As a biennial, Sweet Rocket stays in the ground for almost an entire year before it blooms, but when it does, the pale lavender flowers stun us again with their sweet fragrance and their beauty. Blooming between our spring and summer crops, it fills in a gap of production for us, and is a favorite flower on our farm.
Seed Origin: USA | Germination rate 90 %
Growing Instructions: Sow in late spring or early summer in cell trays, covering lightly with soil. Transplant 6-8 weeks before your first frost in the fall. Because this is a true biennial, it will grow slowly after transplanting and survive the winter as a small mound of leaves, and then bloom the following spring.
Days to maturity: 330 - 360 days
NOTE: Sweet Rocket is considered invasive in some areas – please look up invasive species in your area before growing.
