Specialty Tulip Bulbs
Specialty Tulip Bulbs
We are so excited to be partnering with Onings, our bulb supplier in Holland, to offer you these amazing varieties of tulips. Many of these specialty varieties are normally only available to the cut flower industry, but now you have a chance to grow these beautiful flowers in your own yard! We grow all of these varieties on our own farm and know you are going to love them!
You will order your tulips by variety - each variety available is pictured here and labeled. Each unit is one bag of 10 bulbs of that particular variety, so when you order 1 “Foxtrot”, you will receive 1 bag of 10 Foxtrot bulbs. Every variety here is a tulip that we grow on our farm for florists - we’ve just added extra to our order so we can share. The varieties available here are some of our all-time favorite tulips, and their blooms last a wonderfully long time both in your landscape and in the vase.
Tulips are one of the most beautiful spring flowers you can grow. If you’re an avid tulip grower, you know that these beauties bloom best their first growing year and often need to be replaced each year to maintain a spectacular show. Here in Oregon they do not always come back every year, and if they do they may look a little different each consecutive spring. For us, tulips in the landscape tend to return the next year a little smaller and in a slightly different color than they did their first blooming year. But we enjoy the surprise! Your tulip bulbs will arrive with detailed planting instructions (hint: it’s easy! Just plant them 6-8” deep as soon as they arrive and wait for flowers to grow in the spring). Please note: these flowers grow wonderfully for us here in Oregon, growing zone 8b, where we have cold winters. If you live in zone 9 or higher you may not be able to grow these as successfully as we do here. A quick google search can show you what your growing zone is.
Our shipment of bulbs is arriving from Holland in mid-October, so these bulbs will be ready for you by the end of October or early November - perfect planting time for these beauties. Please note: agriculture laws prohibit us from shipping out of the country or to California. We are also offering on-farm pickup for local customers - we will notify you of the pickup dates once our bulb shipment arrives. You will choose between pickup or shipping at checkout.
Flower Farmer Tip: If you’re familiar with planting tulips, you know that they are planted fairly close together. Each bulb will produce one spectacular flower, so these look best in the landscape if you plant many bulbs quite close together to create a swath of color. If you’re wanting to cover a large area, or want to have enough flowers to leave in your yard AND bring some into the house, you may want to purchase more than one bag.
